When the community awarded us with hosting rights back in 2016, our suggestions for Co-Chief Adjudicators were Aisha Ahmad (Pakistan) and Anna England Kerr (Slovenia/England). The tournament committee vote confirmed them both as WSDC 2018 CAs. Recently, however, Anna has had to step down for personal reasons, which we are very sorry for. Luckily, Anna agreed to stay on board and provide help to the CAP. We’re happy to be able to say Claire Ryan (New Zealand) accepted our proposition and has been confirmed by WSDC Board of Directors to join Aisha as WSDC 2018 Co-Chief Adjudicator.
Aisha Ahmad
Aisha was coach of the Pakistan WSDC team in 2011 in Dundee and in 2012 in Cape Town, and also coached Team Denmark at WSDC 2013 in Antalya. Aside from her stints as coach, Aisha has represented Pakistan as an adjudicator at WSDC 2010 in Doha and WSDC 2014 in Bangkok. Within Pakistan, Aisha has been a debate coach for 9 years and has served as chief adjudicator for numerous local and national tournaments. She is actively involved in expanding both the WSDC and WUDC circuits within Pakistan and has achieved great success in both formats in Pakistan. She has been on the National Team Selection Committee for WSDC since 2009. Aisha was a Co-Chief Adjudicator for Winter Holidays Open in 2015 and 2017, a CAP member for WSDC 2015 and a Co-Chief Adjudicator for WSDC 2017. She graduated from Harvard Law School and is currently a PhD candidate at Oxford.
Claire Ryan
Claire Ryan is a District Court Judge in her home town of Auckland New Zealand , an amateur astronomer and a very amateur watchmaker with a passion for collecting Swatches. She has been involved in the World Schools Debating Championships since 1988 and has been attending WSDC regularly since 2002. She was on the Chief Adjudication Panel from 2004 to 2008 and was Co-Chief Adjudicator in 2007, working with Aisha Ahmed in that capacity again this year.
