REGISTRATION FEES
Our greatest concern is making WSDC 2018 in Zagreb as inclusive as possible through providing reasonable registration fees and very little extra costs upon arrival to WSDC. This is why we want to provide participants with assurances that main registration fees for debaters, coaches, team managers and adjudicators will be pegged at 510 € with expected variation of 10% depending on fundraising. Registration fees would be higher for observers and single rooms will be available with additional fees. Due to the size of the hotel we do not expect issues concerning availability of rooms. The proposed budget is conservative in corporate sponsorship expectations, but we are expecting positive movement in that category, which would in turn have an impact in reducing the registration fee.
All adjudicators will be offered a hostel type accommodation based reduced fees.
REGISTRATION FEES COVER:
- 10 nights of accommodation
- 10 days with organized breakfast and dinner
- 5 days with organized lunch (2 additional organized lunches for breaking teams)
- Local transportation to and from tournament and ceremony venues
- Opening ceremony, Cultural night, Break night party, Closing ceremony
- Welcome package (a tournament goodie bag including sponsor gear, t-shirts and similar memorabilia)
- Airport transfer on arrival and departure days
OUTREACH PROGRAM
In order to make participation at WSDC as accessible as possible, we offer hostel type accommodation and participation support in the shape of reduced registration fees. We would provide hostel type accommodation (2, 4 or 8 bed rooms with en-suite bathrooms, 100 beds total) in Moving Hostel , a newly opened hostel 350 m from Panorama Hotel. This would allow us to reduce the registration fee up to 30% for around 10 teams. Rules for qualification for the outreach program would be developed in cooperation with The Executive in 2017 to best suit WSDC community needs, but the general intent is to allow countries who are struggling with WSDC participation due to financial obstacles to participate at WSDC 2018.

SAFETY OF PARTICIPANTS
The overall safety level in Croatia is high. There are no recorded terrorist attacks in Croatia and there are virtually no violent crimes. Streets are safe and theft or pick-pocketing are rare. Croatia has a well developed public healthcare system and arrangements will be made to have health support readily available at all WSDC 2018 locations.
We have no way of knowing what the situation with refugees fleeing to Europe might be like in 2018 so we’d rather refrain from guessing. What we do know is that up until now there have been no recorded incidents of any kind since the corridor for refugee passage through Croatia opened. As you might know, the corridor is currently closed.
